This special report was shown to the public in Prague after Heydrich's assassination which took place on May 27, 1942 asking for help in capturing the men who had taken part in the killing. Eventually Karel Curda, a fellow Czechoslovak soldier who had been parachuted into the country from Britain as part of the "Out Distance" sabotage group, led the German authorities to the perpetrators.

Following the massive Nazi crackdown and mass killings that occurred after Reinhard Heydrich’s death—including the destruction of the village of Lidice—Curda turned himself in to the Gestapo and provided the names and locations of his teammates and their local contacts in exchange for a reward of 10 million Kronen (roughly 1 million Reichsmarks) and a new identity, "Karl Jerhot".
